For A Barbarian Woman by Saviana Stanescu; directed by Niegel Smith
A co-production with Ensemble Studio Theatre
The first production in A Season of Cultural Revolution, For A Barbarian Woman chronicles parallel love stories two millennia apart.
The greatest poet of the Roman Empire, Ovid, exiled to the land of the barbarian Getae people, falls in love with his Getae slave. An American Colonel posted to a base in Getae, now Romania, falls in love with his Romanian interpreter. Boundaries are shattered in these parallel love stories two millennia apart.
