Dream Junkies - Book of The Year Award Finalist 2012 by ForeWord Reviews
The Romanian Cultural Institute in New York is pleased to announce the nomination of the novel Dream Junkies by Romanian born, New York based writer Alexandra Ares as the Finalist of the Book of the Year 2012 by ForeWord Reviews.
A downcast Manhattan young woman helps an optimist Brooklyn girlfriend pursue her secret love on the West Coast, embarking on a crazy adventure where she’ll find her soul and ultimately chase her own dream. A page turner where self-irony and lucidity blends wonderfully with lyrical interludes, DREAM JUNKIES, offer the reader a "deconstructed" view of today’s American Dream.
Funny, mysterious, fresh, and heartbreaking, Dream Junkies tells the tales of creative expatriates and exiles, unwise women, straying men, and the power of dreams, which can both blind us and brace us against reality. The novel was first published in Europe where it was a best seller.
"Another character-driven story from Alexandra Ares, filled with her distinctive twists and unusual points of view. Recommended for readers tired of the same old, same old rom-coms and dramedies." Amazon Vine Reviewer
