The debut feature by Romanian director Adrian Sitaru – already acclaimed for his short films (among which "Waves", presented at 2008 Sundance Festival) – will have its American premiere at Palm Springs International Film Festival. Actress Maria Dinulescu will present the film to American critics, journalists and audiences, and also participate to the film screenings on FRI, January 9, 12:30 pm & MON, January 12, 7 pm.
UPDATE: Following the award received by Hooked as winner of the New Voices/New Visions category, the movie will have one more screening on MON, Jan 19, together with the other awarded films.
A day in the country becomes a crisis of conscience for two lovers after they hit a prostitute with their car. Presumed dead, she suddenly wakes up, and the couple lies to her about the accident. Hooked's naturalistic, handheld visual style complements the psychological complexity of the screenplay.
