|Romanian pianist Vlad Iftinca will concert with Chinese-born bass-baritone Shenyang in a special event at the recently opened Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. Vlad Iftinca is currently part of the 2008-2009 Metropolitan Opera music staff roster and is also the Staff Music Coach for the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. Shenyang has won the prestigious 2008-09 Alice Tully Vocal Arts Debut Recital Award and makes his New York debut in this recital. The recital includes pieces by , Carl Loewe, Brahms, and Wolf.
Shenyang is in his second year of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program and the Juilliard Opera Center, where he studies with Robert C. White. In April 2009, he makes his Metropolitan Opera debut as Masetto in Don Giovanni. Mr. Shen also recently sang Brahms’ Liebeslieder Walzer at Carnegie Hall with James Levine and Daniel Barenboim. He appeared in the Juilliard Opera Center production of Trilogy, singing two of the three leading roles in this compilation of a trio of one-act portraits of marriage, conducted and conceived by James Conlon.

Born in Romania, he received his primary education at Reina Sofia School of Music and the Real Conservatorio in Madrid, Spain. He pursued additional studies at the Mannes School of Music and The Juilliard School in New York. Mr. Iftinca has collaborated with distinguished artists such as singers Thomas Hampson and Isabel Leonard, pianist-conductor Leon Fleisher, violinist José Luis García Asensio and violist Gérard Caussé. Recent engagements include recitals in Hong Kong and San Francisco; the Marilyn Horne Foundation Annual Gala at Carnegie Hall; Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny with the Spoleto Festival USA; and the Ravinia Festival’s Steans Institute for Young Artists.
