A non-profit classical music advocacy group comprising New Yorks most talented concert pianists and conductors, New York Concert Artists & Associates (NYCA) presents its exclusive concert series, Evenings of Piano Concerti III (EPC III) from April 24 to May 29 on every Saturday evening at 7pm.
Now in its third season, EPC III will host Manhattan Chamber Orchestra for each evening with three guest conductors, Ken-David Masur, Eduard Zilberkant and David Gilbert. Each evening features four different pianists as soloists with the orchestra, all of whom have achieved international recognitions.
For this Evening, four pianists will be featured as "Rising Artists" to perform the following program under the baton of Eduard Zilberkant, conductor of Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra:
Matei Varga Haydn Keyboard Concerto No.11 in D major, Hob.XVIII/11
Dmitri Levkovich Franck Symphonic Variations
Heeyoun Choue Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No.2 in G minor, Op.22
Yoon Jeong Jung Schumann Piano Concerto in A minor, Op.54
Eduard Zilberkant, Conductor
Matei Varga is already established as one of the leading young artists of his native Romania and his prodigious talent is fast becoming recognized in the United States and Europe. His October 2008 debut performance at Zankel Hall was described by Rorianne Schrade of New York Concert Review as “masterful, [with] tremendous dynamic range [and showing] an exceptional mind at work”, whereas his account of Schumann’s Fantasy op. 17 at the Berlin Konzerthaus in August 2009 was hailed by Wolfgang Schrieber of Süddeutsche Zeitung as “magical”.
