The Romanian Cultural Institute in New York (RCINY) has the pleasure of inviting you to attend "BRANCUSI: THE VISIONARY", a special event dedicated to Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi (b. February 19, 1876, Hobita-Pestisani, Gorj County, Romania – d. March 16, 1957, Paris, France), who redefined the form and meaning of 20th century sculpture through his original and unique vision and his innovative techniques. His work was seminal for his contemporaries and future generations of artists.

Doïna Lemny holds a PhD in art history; she is a curator and researcher at the Musée National d’Art Moderne, Centre Pompidou in Paris. Her research focuses on modern sculpture of the first half of 20th century, with a particular interest in Brancusi’s work.
She published the documents from Brancusi’s archives in Paris in two volumes, “L’Atelier Brancusi, La Collection” (Paris, Centre Pompidou, 1997) and “La Dation Brancusi: dessins et archives” (Paris, Centre Pompidou, 2003), as well as his Romanian correspondence and studio notes in “Brâncusi inedit” (Bucharest, Humanitas, 2004).
She co-curated seven thematic exhibitions at Brancusi Studio in Paris, from 1998 to 2002. She also curated the exhibitions: “Antoine Pevsner dans les collections du Centre Pompidou” (2001), “La Dation Brancusi” (2003), “Henri Gaudier-Brzeska dans les collections du Centre Pompidou” (2009), and coordinated the related catalogs.
She is the author of: “Brancusi” (Paris, Oxus, 2005); “Brancusi & Gaudier-Brzeska: points de convergence” and “Henri Gaudier-Brzeska: Notes sur Liabeuf et Tolstoï” (Paris, L’Échoppe, 2009); “Lizica Codréano, une danseuse roumaine dans l’avant-garde parisienne” (Lyon, Fage, 2011); “Brancusi, au-delà de toutes les frontiers” (Lyon, Fage, 2012); “Brancusi”, coll. “Monographies” (Paris, éditions du Centre Pompidou, 2012); “Henri Gaudier-Brzeska, un sculpteur «mort pour la France»” (Lyon, Fage, 2015); “Brancusi, an Artist without Frontiers” (Bucharest, Noi Media Print, 2016).
